Book review - The boy in the striped pyjamas - Der Junge im gestreiften Pyjama

Heute gibt es eine kleine Buchbesprechung zu einem etwas traurigen Buch.

John Boyne - Der Junge im gestreiften Pyjama

In diesem Buch begibt man sich auf eine Reise mit dem neunjährigen Jungen Bruno. Bruno ist der Sohn eines Offiziers und muss dank des Krieges mit seiner Familie umziehen - nach "Aus-Wisch". Es ist die Geschichte einer ungewöhnlichen Freundschaft und davon, wie ein Kind den Wahnsinn eines Konzentrationslagers erlebt.

Wie ich schon sagte, diese Geschichte ist etwas trauriger Natur und dennoch mehr als lesenswert. Man wird auf die Reise von Bruno und seiner Schwester Gretel mitgenommen, die zusammen mit ihren Eltern Berlin verlassen und in ein Haus auf dem Land ziehen. Bruno entdeckt irgendwann einen Zaun - und das Lager, das dahinter liegt. Er lernt Schmuel, einen Judenjungen aus dem Lager kennen. Die beiden werden im Laufe der Zeit beste Freunde - was nicht ohne Folgen bleibt...

Das Buch an sich ist nicht sehr dick - gerade einmal 266 Seiten - und eignet sich dadurch prima als Urlaubslektüre.

Es ist eine liebevoll erzählte Geschichte, die sich so auch tatsächlich so abgespielt haben könnte - man weiß es nicht.

Von mir gibt es daher 4 von 5 Sternen - und ein paar Taschentücher.

Today I want to give you a review about a book which is a little sad.

John Boyne - The boy in the striped pyjamas

It's the story of the nine years old boy named Bruno. Bruno is the son of an army officer and thanks to the war, Bruno and his family has to move - to a place with a strange name. It is the story of an unusual friendship and of the insanity in a concentration camp seen with the eyes of a child.

Like I said before, this story is a bit sad but nevertheless it's really worth reading! Your journey starts with Bruno and his sister Gretel. Together with their parents they are leaving Berlin and move to a house in the countryside. Bruno starts his expedition around the house and one day he finds a huge fence - including the camp on the other side. He makes friends with Schmuel, a Jewish boy, and soon they became best friends - with fatal consequences...

It's a relatively thin book - with 216 pages - so it's the perfect lecture for your vacations.

It is an affectionately told story, which could have happend like that in real life - you'll never know.

Today I'll give 4 stars out of 5 - and some tissues!
